Mission Statement
The purpose of the Sonoma Valley Jazz Society is to enhance the appreciation of jazz as an American musical art form through live jazz performances and education in Sonoma Valley. We bring together our community by providing an opportunity to see, hear and meet top quality Jazz artists. We also sponsor Jazz education for young aspiring musicians in our area.
The Sonoma Valley Jazz Society supports the art of jazz in Sonoma Valley through events, education and community outreach, in collaboration with arts organizations throughout the Bay Area. SVJS endeavors to lead the way, making jazz more widely available in Sonoma Valley, cultivating audiences, and encouraging participation in this exciting art form. We believe the performing arts are an essential ingredient in the quality of life in our community, and jazz music, with its rich heritage and continued evolution, deserves an important place in the local performing arts scene. As a not-for-profit (501c3), the SVJS exists for the good of the community, and is committed to the highest standards of professionalism, scholarship, collaboration, inclusiveness, and enjoyment.
Our main purpose is to promote Jazz and to provide the Sonoma Valley Community an opportunity to enjoy top quality Live Jazz without leaving Sonoma. We help promote jazz by sponsoring young musicans and present many live jazz concerts. We also have a great list of musicians from the Sonoma Valley and the greater Bay Area available for referral for your event - Call 707-373-0700

We produce four FREE Outdoor Concerts every year which are held in the City of Sonoma Plaza Amphitheatre every second Tuesday, June through September, 6:00 to 8:30 PM. Presented in association with the Tuesday Night Farmer’s Market, this great family and community event attracts people of all ages who listen to and learn about America‘s true art form. Come on out, bring a picnic and enjoy some great live jazz.
Furthermore, we sponsor jazz education for youth in the Sonoma Valley.
