Pianist GEORGE KAHN
When a young musician’s sources of inspiration are jazz greats like Dave Brubeck, Ramsey Lewis, Joe Sample, Vince Guaraldi and Wynton Kelly, you’d figure that his own music would turn out to be pretty special...and in the case of jazz pianist and composer George Kahn, you’d be right. George is based in Los Angeles and his music captures the feel of the West Coast Jazz scene of the 50’s & 60’s, but with a contemporary edge. George has incorporated many styles including bebop, smooth jazz, blues, Latin and New Orleans rhythms. In 2018 George Kahn Trio "Straight Ahead" was released, and became one of the top 100 jazz albums of the year based on radio play (Jazzweek.com)Now in 2021, The George Kahn Quartet released “DreamCatcher”, which made the TOP 5 on the JAZZWEEK radio play chart.Joining George for this special show will be San Francisco Jazz Stalwart Gary Zellerbach and the Grammy-winning drummer, MB Gordy and superstar LA bassist, Lyman Medeiros.
.
"Jazz in the Barn" takes place in a beautiful old barn and seating is very limited so get your tickets early. We will have ice, no host bar, small nibbles and wine glasses

Gary Zellerbach - Guitar
Gary Zellerbach is a popular Northern California guitarist and proud fifth generation native San Franciscan. He received his first guitar on his 13th birthday and has been playing ever since. While in high school, Gary studied jazz guitar with noted local instructor Dave Smith and played in numerous blues and rock bands around San Francisco.Next stop was Brandeis University outside Boston, where Gary received his BA degree while continuing jazz guitar studies with Andy Caponigro and famed jazz guitarist and educator Mick Goodrick. Gary had some great musicians as classmates, including pianist George Kahn and bassist/music editor Carl Sealove. With local and Brandeis musicians, Gary formed a progressive jazz-fusion group called Spectrum, managed by Ted Kurland (who went on to become the top talent agent in all of jazz!). Spectrum played around the Northeast, including opening concerts and club dates for Gary Burton and Keith Jarrett.Gary performs and records regularly around the Bay Area with musicians including Al Lazard, Gerald Beckett, Steve McQuarry, Michael Gold, Scott Silverberg and The Westside Jazz Club, and vocalists Laura Wiley and many more. Some of the places played include premier jazz venues such as Yoshi's San Francisco, the SFJAZZ Center, the Fillmore Jazz Festival, People in Plazas, Club Deluxe, and dozens more restaurants, clubs, and private events.During the "great" pandemic of '20-21, Gary moved to Sonoma and started the Wine Time Jazz ensemble, focusing on private events in Sonoma, Napa, San Francisco, and throughout the region. Featuring a flexible roster of top musicians, we're available for any type of musical engagement.
