The Sonoma Valley Jazz Society in conjunction the Napa Valley Jazz Society have provided JAR Grants of a total of $7,000 to 11 artists.
Thank you to everyone who contributed
The Sonoma Valley Jazz Society Board would like to let you know what we are doing to help our jazz musicians during the Coronavirus shut down. The Sonoma Valley Jazz Society is teaming up with the Napa Valley Jazz Society to partner in the Jazz Artist Relief (JAR) a 501c3 fund.
Our focus will be on jazz artist friends of SVJS. Applicants for assistance will be required to provide specific information on lost revenue and housing costs, and reference contacts for verification. Priority will be given to those most in need of relief. Grants will range from $100 to $500 per month and will be considered for possible renewal as more is known. We realize this is not a lot of money but can help with food and other expenses.
We invite our Members and friends to consider generous contributions to this worthy cause. A separate bank account has been set up for the JAR Fund under our 501c3 designation. Please let us know if you are interested in contributing by emailing info@sonomavalleyjazzsociety.org or donate directly HERE
What does the Sonoma Valley Jazz Society do with my Donation?
Your donations go towards the four FREE concerts we provide each year in the Sonoma Plaza - the 2nd Tuesday of the month - June through September. Donations go towards Plaza rental fees, insurance, equipment rental, sound, trash pickup, bathroom cleanup, programs, mailings, and of course the Musicians!
What other activities does the Sonoma Valley Jazz Society support?
Each year we sponsor jazz youth to attend jazz camp, lessons, to purchase an instrument or by giving away a youth Scholorship each year. We also bring live jazz performances to the Sonoma Valley Schools.
Do you have any paid positions on the SVJS Board/Group?
The Sonoma Valley Jazz Society is made up of only volunteers. None of the volunteers nor the board members receive any pay for their work. All work is done because we want to promote one of America's orginal art forms - Jazz and its musicians - young and old! But most importantly to enhance the Sonoma Community with our events.
How can I help the Sonoma Valley Jazz Society?
You can help by donating to the Sonoma Valley Jazz Society. Attending our events, Volunteering to help with emails, online calendars, publicity, set up and cleanup of the venues. Attending meetings to share your ideas. Contact Janice at 707-373-0700 if you are interested.
